On June 19, I had the pleasure of participating as a speaker at the General University Hospital of Valencia, in the Hospital Nutrition Conference led by Dr. Carlos S\u00e1nchez Juan, Head of the Endocrinology and Nutrition Unit.<\/span><\/p>\n

Led by Nestl\u00e9, HealthScience, the event brought together Nutrition and Endicronology Residents, willing to share, learn and enrich an afternoon focused on improving patient care on nutritional issues.<\/span><\/p>\n

What humility healthcare professionals demonstrate when they also attend a Communication conference to improve their relationships with their patients! Addressing them paying attention to their emotions is essential and ensures that patients feel more committed to the treatment to follow.<\/span><\/p>\n

Many medical professionals are convinced that patients heal better when you establish an emotional bond with them and speak to them with a positive attitude. Studies are being carried out in this regard to support this statement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beyond knowing what to do to successfully deal with the patient's health, we also talk in Valencia about how to successfully deal with communication with the patient, with their families, among colleagues and with the general public.<\/span><\/p>\n

3 essential steps for Communication in the healthcare area:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

1- Attitude so that our patient trusts us<\/em> and realize that our words are aimed at helping you and making you feel better. Our attitude must meet 7 characteristics:<\/span><\/p>\n

Positivism, Empathy, Humility, Respect, Creativity, Security and Dialogue. <\/span><\/p>\n

2- Prior knowledge of our interlocutor, their environment and their emotional state.<\/em> The patient is our "client", we must communicate with him, adapting to his way of being and thinking, being aware of what he needs at all times and always aiming to provide him with value.<\/span><\/p>\n

3- Creativity:<\/em> The Mental Flower will help us structure our message and prepare it in a creative and specific way. It is very important to limit the information, highlight 3 key ideas and use familiar and understandable language. How we start the conversation determines the attention that the patient or family member will pay to our words and how we close the conversation will influence their subsequent mood.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
