What is the relationship between ✈️paper airplanes and Time Management?

Time Management - Maria Muñoz Roca

The current Guinness World Record for the longest paper airplane flight is 69.14 meters. This record was achieved on February 26, 2012 in North Highlands, California, by John M. Collins and Joe Ayoob. Was their goal Time Management? Obviously their goal was to achieve the maximum distance.

Our training participants TIME MANAGEMENT AND PRODUCTIVITY They were challenged to fly their planes 4 metres. Their goals were very different from those of Collins and Ayoob!

What do you see in this image?

A) We are learning time management 🕰️ and we are enjoying learning 😊
B) We are motivated 💪 to improve our time management and to implement our action plans 🚀

In this gamified dynamic ✈️, we all learned 10 crucial things for time management:

1- Time flies ⏳ Learn to be realistic. How many times have we planned to spend 3 hours on a task and the final time has doubled? Experience in Time Management helps us calculate the time needed for a task or project. Our recommendation is to work on a productivity map for our Time Management: analyze how much time we need for daily tasks and add 10% more time, to gain well-being. If we finish the task sooner, fantastic! Time Management is improved with a daily Productivity map.

2- Assertiveness with the team: Why not ask for more time for our project, if we need it? 🗣️On many occasions we are given a task with a deadline. The person who has indicated the execution period ("deadline") is not aware of all the steps necessary to complete the work or of all the people involved in this project. If we accept this deadline, we are committing to meet it. If we are not sure that it is enough time, let's ask for time to reflect and confirm the next day.

3- Don't commit to impossible things 🚫 We always want to give our best and improve ourselves. With good intentions, we make things difficult for ourselves: I can work an extra hour each day, I take my work home on the weekend and finish it... And we are the self-generators of our own stress. When productivity is accompanied by well-being, it multiplies.

4- Always keep the SMART objective in mind: What are our priorities? 🎯 SMART? 5 letters that help us define our objectives in detail. One of them, T (Time) is, from my point of view, the most important. Specifying an execution time for each task leads us to success. Avoid expressions like: "I'll call you later", "I'll send it to you as soon as possible", "It's urgent", "You'll have it next week", "I'll do it as soon as I can". These imprecise expressions harm us because each person has a different date in mind and therefore, specifying a date, a time, favors us. From now on: "I'll call you at 4 in the afternoon", "I'll send it to you next Tuesday"... Do you want to try and be surprised by the results?

5- Listen consciously and review the instructions 👂 Is it enough to listen to the instructions for a project once? I recommend reading the instructions, rephrasing them to ensure understanding and sharing them with our interlocutor. We need 3 impacts to internalize all the information and make it “ours.”

6- The importance of preparation and planning 📝Of course, the team of participants in this training had 15 minutes of planning and preparation to practice, test, iterate and define the correct process for designing, manufacturing and launching the aircraft.

7- Sharing tasks and delegating 🤝 How many people are in the team? Do we choose a leader for Time Management? How do we distribute all the tasks?

8- Learning from experience 🔍 Here we would like to emphasize that it is important to learn from your own experience and from the experience of others. When we talk about time management, we are all important. Validating people's contribution when they explain to us how they manage their time is essential. We learn from everything.

9- Positive attitude to face all challenges 😊 You already know me, attitude is everything. I invite you to watch this video by Victor Küppers about attitude. His opening line is noteworthy: “I have 18 minutes, the truth is that my problem is going to be time.” Attitude and time management

10-Optimism vs Prudence vs Realism ⚖️Should we be optimistic about Time Management? Yes. Should we be prudent about Time Management? Yes. Should we be realistic about Time Management? Yes.
