EVALUATION is a key word in all Training. We always evaluate to Improve.
Because?
- We evaluate to confirm that we are aligned with the students or participants in terms of objectives.
- We verify that we have created a favorable environment for participation, a close climate where each person feels comfortable to enrich the session with their experience and questions.
- We make sure we are expressing ourselves empathically with our audience., with understandable language, appropriate to their knowledge of the subject.
In short, we continually evaluate to provide value to the participant and guarantee that they will be able to apply the training contents to their professional life (job transfer).
¿Trainer Self-Evaluation?
The challenge of a Trainer must be Continuous Improvement.
Stay up to date with technologies, with new methods that facilitate learning, with gamification and dynamization of content...
Let us remember that being an expert in our area of knowledge is only the first step to being a good Trainer. A necessary step although not sufficient.
Asking the student for concrete and sincere feedback on our training is a symbol of humility and honesty. With the students and with oneself. We will always carry out a Two-Way Evaluation, out of mutual respect.
What are the 4 phases to carry out excellent training?
- Planning of content and dynamics adapted to the needs of the student.
- Design of empathic materials of the 21st century.
- Two-way communication that includes 2 fundamental requirements: assertiveness and proactivity.
- Evaluation and Monitoring: Live, that is, during the training and of course also Final Evaluation, to define an Action Plan for each Participant, which helps them continue improving.
From these lines we want to emphasize the need to Evaluate and Self-Evaluate (360 Evaluation) because it is the best way to optimize learning (of the student and especially of the Trainer).
Is it necessary to be Creative in the Evaluation?

Of course the answer is Yes!!
In the 21st century, Evaluation is not a list of exam-type questions. We can evaluate with games, with mobile applications, with teamwork, online and offline,…
In closing, allow me two interactive questions:
- How many forms of evaluation do you know?
- What is your favorite evaluation method?
Of course, I await your feedback on this post to continue learning and improving. Thank you so much!!
